Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS)
Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS)
Avlaw Aviation Consulting is an accredited Audit Company in the global Flight Safety Foundation Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) Program since 2010, with over 250 audits conducted globally throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
BARS was developed as a means of establishing a common global aviation safety assessment and audit protocol and is used by organisations within the resource and mining sector, government departments, insurance companies and humanitarian aid agencies.
The risk-based standards of the BARS Program have been developed for a number of critical operational areas in aviation including offshore, aerial work, passenger charter, utility and energy, animal management and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).

Experts in Safety and Quality
The BARS is centred around a risk-based model against actual threats in everyday aviation operations. The Standard aims to provide an objective overview of an organisation’s safety systems and processes to BARS Member Organisations.
Having joined the Program in 2010, our team is highly knowledgeable about the BARS and provides a pragmatic approach to the Standard’s application in a variety of operational contexts.
BARS RPAS Gap Analysis
Avlaw can also conduct a gap analysis for operators to prepare for their BARS RPAS Audit. A gap analysis allows the operator to conduct an assessment of current operations against a set of best practices to expose the shortfalls in the operator’s procedures. A plan will then be developed by our team of experienced and highly specialised consultants that will address the discrepancies found. This plan can then be implemented by the RPAS operator in preparation for their BARS RPAS Audit.
