How aviation authorities impact on building heights

Avlaw Aviation Consulting’s Group General Manager, Amin Hamzavian, has written a feature article in the recent Urban Ideas July 2016 issue about the impact of aviation authorities on building heights.

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) are important in the world of property development, defining the operational requirements for airspace charts and subsequently impacting on buildings that impart on Prescribed Airspace.

The approval process for developers that do infringe on an airport’s protected airspace involves liaising with key industry stakeholders including the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Airservices Australia, local councils and the Department of Defence.

Avlaw Aviation Consulting has extensive experience in preparing risk-based safety cases to support developer applications which include comprehensive analysis, as well as providing preliminary advice to developers regarding future developments and any possible airspace infringements.
